2010 Texas Biennial Disability Report The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) prepared a biennial report to the Legislature on the state of services to persons with disabilities in Texas. This year, the Council directed a special focus for the 2010 Biennial Disability Report on Representative profiles of the needs and situations of people who are waiting for services in Texas.
The Next Step The Next Step, a 19-minute video created in 2003, is available online in English and Spanish  (150MB streaming video; requires QuickTime). The Next Step presents stories of five Texans with disabilities who enrolled in colleges, universities or technical schools. It is designed to challenge students with disabilities, their families and educators to consider higher education as an option. Also available on closed-captioned DVD; and includes some audio description and contains a Spanish version (spoken, with closed captioning).

People First Language/Describing People with Disabilities This handout explores how to speak accurately and appropriately about people with disabilities. It is a good reference tool to use when speaking or writing, or to give to reporters or other individuals. One side of the handout is in English and the other is in Spanish. (revised Dec. 2011)

Working with the News Media This series of information sheets is designed to help people become more familiar with the news media and develop the skills they need to obtain coverage of disability issues.  It includes basic information on selected topics, as well as guidelines, tips and a resource list.  Topics include an introduction to the news media, preparing a letter to the editor or guest editorial, preparing for an interview, using photographs, conveying desired values, and preparing news releases and obtaining publicity.
Council Position Statements

These address various disability issues; community living, children and families, health care reform, education, employment, the criminal justice system, child care, case management and transportation.
